One Roll, One Kid- March

March has proven to be one of the craziest months ever. In a “normal” month of March, we in Eastern Washington would be looking forward to the blue skies, flower blooms and warming temperatures. This March however we found ourselves fighting snow drifts, blizzard-like conditions and freezing temperatures. We had snow days, late starts and generally spent hours on end indoors watching the weather.

This extra time inside gave me the opportunity to reflect on my photography and on my family. Each one of my 4 kids are so unique, to say I am proud of each one of them would be an understatement but I don’t know how to express how much each one of them enriches our family.

This month, I used my “one roll” to take photos of Tessa. At the age of 13, she is changing and growing the most right now. She has the hard job of following in her two older sister’s footsteps, while keeping a watchful eye on her younger brother. At an early age, she self appointed herself to care for Henry. She is always thinking about his well being and keeping him in line. This month while I was teaching, I received a text from Tessa stating it was an early release and I needed to pick up Henry from school. I always laugh at her “mothering” but she saved me from forgetting Henry at school. We joke around saying Henry has two mothers but it really is a benefit for him.

Tessa is such a sweet, kind hearted young lady. She is always looking out for everyone’s wellbeing, from siblings at home, peers at her school to her dance friends. This year has been quite the year for her, earning almost all A’s at school, moving up to Intermediate Company in dance, and continuing to be a great friend to everyone. She has expressed interest in working at a gas station (snacks on breaks!) and becoming a middle school science teacher, so she can continue to help kids grow and learn. I have no doubt that she would be an amazing teacher when she grows up!

Here are some of my photos from the One Roll, One Kid. I used Kodak Tmax, self developed and scanned the film. To see another beautiful One Roll, One Kid- please visit https://www.tatianajohnson.com/blog/-one-kid-one-roll-march?fbclid=IwAR0hdM93ImBzMXHGUuezxt4TdDB-QENR49SgeYUkQwQIlLEA059ND3C5jeo
